Welcome to News Maven, a news service powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI). By using our service, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

1. Introduction to News Maven

News Maven is a service that provides fast and accurate news from reliable sources. You can use News Maven to:

  • Summarize news to understand the content more quickly.
  • Ask questions about the news content.
  • Search for news by keyword, topic, source, and time.
  • Dive deeper into topics that interest you.

2. Account and Service Usage

  • You need to create an account to fully use the features of News Maven.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account information.
  • News Maven reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms of Service.

3. Usage Fees

  • When you create a new account, you will receive an initial credit (AUD $5) to use the service.
  • News Maven is a paid service because we provide real value to users. To operate, News Maven needs to pay for third-party services used in the process of aggregating, processing, and distributing content.
  • The usage cost is not fixed and may change based on the service infrastructure. You can view your usage history and top-up details at any time.
  • The estimated cost for each news summary (including 8–15 news items) is about 1–3 cents AUD.
  • Premium features such as on-demand summaries or audio news reading may incur additional costs.
  • News Maven also offers the option to donate to news publishers. All donations will be 100% forwarded to the content publishers.

4. How to Interact and Request Information

After setting your news preferences, you can:

  • Open detailed questions by clicking on the indication icon in News Maven's response.
  • Open the original news source by clicking on the date and source information.
  • Quickly select suggested questions or type a new question in the chat box.
  • Request news summaries on specific topics (e.g., "Summarize news about Artificial Intelligence in January 2025").
  • Use links to Google to find more information.
  • Request to display older news if you have already seen all the latest news.

5. Privacy and Data Security

News Maven respects your privacy. We only store the following minimal data:

  • Your news preferences, language, and preferred sources.
  • The questions you ask and the answers provided by News Maven (can be toggled on/off).
  • Your email address in an encrypted format to ensure privacy.
  • Your name as displayed in the app is taken from the access token and is not stored in our database.

News Maven is committed to:

  • Not tracking your activity outside the app.
  • Not sharing your personal data with third parties.

Third-party services:

  • News Maven uses Auth0 for account authentication. We do not store your password; only an access token is stored to access your account.
  • If you sign in with Google, Auth0 stores basic information provided by Google, such as your full name, email address, profile picture, and user ID. All of this data is securely managed by Auth0.
  • You can review Auth0's privacy policy at okta.com.
  • News Maven uses PayPal to process payments and top up your account balance. We do not store your credit card information or any personal details you provide to PayPal. We only update your account balance after PayPal confirms a successful transaction.
  • News Maven is not responsible for any issues arising from the information you provide to PayPal. Please ensure you understand your rights and obligations when using PayPal's services. See PayPal's privacy policy.

6. News Sources

News Maven aggregates news from reliable sources and always cites them. All information that News Maven uses is clearly cited from its original source.

For non-free news sources, content may be limited. We encourage you to subscribe to the publisher to read the full content or view it directly from the original source to appreciate the work of journalists.

7. Limitation of Liability

News Maven provides information based on AI algorithms. We are not responsible for the absolute accuracy of the information, nor any damages arising from the use of our service. You should independently verify information from other sources before making any decisions.

8. Changes to Terms of Service

News Maven reserves the right to change these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify you of significant changes. Your continued use of the service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
